Academic Assistance Program (AAP)

Dear Middle School Learners and Parents:  

The Susquehanna Township Middle School will again offer the Academic Assistance Program (AAP) for the 2024-2025 school year. AAP is an after-school tutoring program offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every week.  It is staffed by certified teachers dedicated to providing academic assistance to learners.

Who May Attend?      

Any learner may attend who needs assistance in any of their classes, complete work to stay or get on pace, or to work on group projects.      

Who Must Attend?   

Any learner behind pace in TWO or more classes should attend AAP for TWO hours that week. Learners are evaluated on a weekly basis.  AAP academically eligible to participate in athletics sponsored by STSD. that week. Ineligible learners may practice with the team at the coach’s discretion but are not eligible to compete.  

The coaches and staff of STMS require that all athletes represent themselves according to the SOAR expectations on and off the field. With that in mind, the athletic staff view their players’ academic performance just as important as their athletic performance.    

Projected Schedule:    

AAP will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week from 3:07-4:30 pm.  Learners will meet in the cafeteria where attendance will be taken.  They will then be assigned to teachers that best suits their needs.  A late bus will be provided at 4:30 pm. This schedule is subject to change depending upon the demand of the AAP service. On rare occasions, AAP may be canceled due to lack of participation, schedule conflicts, inclement weather or staffing issues. All learners, who are behind pace in two or more classes and learner-athletes, wishing to attend AAP must have the attached signed permission form on file and must sign up online by 10:00 each day.  (Guardians you are also to sign your learner up using the sign-up link.)  If you would like your child to take advantage of this program, please complete the attached form and return it to school as soon as possible. This form must be completed before the learner is eligible for the program.   Sincerely,
